On June 23, 2021, the Port Authority of Syros received notification from the shipping agent regarding a significant issue with the 'Eko 1', which was docked in the port. Reports indicated that the vessel had experienced damage to its main engine. In response to this critical situation, the Port Authority has mandated that the ship remain in port until necessary repairs are completed. Furthermore, the owners must present a certificate ensuring compliance with maintenance class and seaworthiness standards, as verified by the attending classification society.
