On July 31, 2015, Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (MES), a renowned Japanese shipbuilding company, celebrated the delivery of the MV Elbabe, the latest addition to its esteemed fleet of eco-friendly vessels. This 60,000 dwt bulk carrier, delivered to Liberia's Mangusta Maritime Ltd, marks the third ship completed under the innovative 'neo60BC' design, known for its environmental benefits. The Elbabe is not only capable of carrying a maximum of 24 crew members but can also reach speeds of up to 14.5 knots. With a length of 200 meters and a breadth of 32.25 meters, this vessel boasts a depth of 18.5 meters, making it a substantial player in maritime transport. It comes equipped with four cranes and five cargo holds, optimizing its loading and unloading capabilities. Notably, the ship features low sulfur fuel oil tanks, making it compliant for operations in Emission Control Areas (ECAs). The MV Elbabe is classified by Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (NK), adhering to the stringent IACS Common Structural Rules, ensuring safety and reliability for its future voyages.
