A crew member aboard the luxury yacht "Eleonora E" was injured after being struck by a boom while sailing in the Solent on July 28, 2015. The incident, which occurred in the afternoon, prompted a medical emergency declaration from the crew, leading to the activation of emergency services just before 2:10 p.m. The Bembridge RNLI responded promptly by launching their all-weather lifeboat, while the Coastguard Rescue 104 from Lee-on-Solent was also dispatched to assist. By 3:30 p.m., the injured sailor was successfully airlifted to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Cosham, where he was reported to be conscious and breathing. The Bembridge RNLI's Alfred Albert Williams lifeboat was subsequently stood down from the scene.
