Mitsui O.S.K. Lines Celebrates Naming of New LNG Carrier 'Energy Liberty'
Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Ltd. proudly announced the successful naming ceremony of their latest LNG carrier on October 16. The event took place at the Tsu Shipyard, operated by Japan Marine United Corporation, and was a collaborative project co-owned with Tokyo LNG Tanker Co., Ltd. Notable attendees included Michiaki Hirose, President of Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd., who bestowed the name 'Energy Liberty' onto the vessel, with the ceremony culminating in a traditional rope-cutting performed by his wife. This vessel marks the eighth addition to Tokyo LNG Tanker's fleet of LNG carriers, with MOL set to directly manage six of these vessels, including the newly named Energy Liberty. Following its completion, the Energy Liberty will play a vital role in transporting liquefied natural gas sourced from the Cove Point Project in the United States to Tokyo Gas. This move showcases MOL's commitment to providing customers with safe and high-quality LNG transportation services, drawing upon its extensive expertise and reputation as a preeminent owner and manager of LNG carriers worldwide.
