Atwood Oceanics, based in Houston, has secured a contract extension with Noble Energy for its drillship, Atwood Advantage. The revised agreement is set to commence on November 9, focusing on the plugging and abandonment of a four-well program in the Gulf of Mexico. This operation is anticipated to span approximately 120 days over the contract period in 2016, with the new expiration date pushed to August 2017. The updated daily operating rate for the drillship will be approximately $240,000. This extension comes on the heels of a recent nine-month extension granted to the Atwood Orca jackup by Mubadala Petroleum.
