Anticipated Arrival of Wind Turbines for Bolivia's Corani in Chile
October 12 (SeeNews) - Empresa Electrica Corani, Bolivia's state-owned electricity provider, is set to receive a shipment of wind turbines at the Arica port in Chile this week. This delivery will significantly contribute to the expansion of the Corani wind farm by adding 24 MW to its capacity. A statement released by the company on Saturday revealed that the E-Ship 1, operated by German firm Enercon GmbH, is scheduled to arrive on Tuesday with a total of eight wind turbines, each equipped with blades measuring 39 meters (128 feet). Currently, the Qollpana wind farm in the municipality of Pocona, located in central Bolivia, is home to two operational turbines, each generating 1.5 MW. The project, which began in collaboration with Spanish engineering firm TSK in December 2014, anticipates an annual energy output of approximately 91 GWh, as stated by local government officials. The Qollpana region is believed to possess substantial wind energy potential, estimated at around 50 MW.
E-Ship 1 Set to Sail After Extensive Year-Long Repairs
The unique rotor ship "E-Ship 1" has officially resumed its journey, departing from the port of Emden on February 16, 2023, and aiming for Cherbourg as its first destination with an estimated time of arrival on February 19 at 10 a.m. Following a year-long hiatus due to persistent issues with its diesel generators, which power both the main engine and the onboard electrical systems, Enercon made significant upgrades to the vessel. All seven generators have been replaced at the Emder Dockyard EWD, alongside enhancements to the entire technical framework to boost operational efficiency. On February 11, the ship emerged from dry dock for final adjustments at the North Quay in Emden. For upcoming voyages, Enercon plans to work closely with ship operator Auerbach of Hamburg. The propulsion system will undergo thorough validation, accompanied by shore-based performance monitoring.
