In a harrowing encounter off the coast of Nigeria, the crew of the cargo vessel 'ESL Australia' successfully sought refuge in a secure citadel during a pirate assault. The attack unfolded when the ship was targeted by armed assailants who ransacked cabins and service areas, stealing valuable belongings. Following this distressing incident, the 'ESL Australia' was able to resume its voyage towards Douala later in the evening on May 21.

On May 20, 2020, the container vessel ESL Australia found itself under attack in the Gulf of Guinea, specifically southwest of Bonny, Nigeria. The incident occurred around 4 PM local time while the ship was making its way from Takoradi, Ghana, to Douala, Cameroon. By evening, the ESL Australia was reported adrift at coordinates 02° 15.89' N and 005° 9.98' E, raising serious concerns about security in this vital shipping area.

On September 14, the m.s. Africaborg officially changed hands as it was sold and delivered to its new owner, according to a press release from Royal Wagenborg. Following this transaction, Wagenborg has confirmed that it will no longer be chartering the m.v. Africaborg. This impressive vessel, with a deadweight capacity of 15,750 tonnes, is 143.00 meters long and 21.50 meters wide. It was originally constructed in 2007 by the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding Group Co. Ltd.
