On January 8, 2019, at approximately 7:00 a.m., the ferry 'Europalink', arriving from Malmö, encountered an allision with the Scandinavia Quay in Travemünde. While executing a turning maneuver on the Trave River, the vessel, after backing toward its designated berth, struck the quay, resulting in a breach measuring 80 x 40 centimeters located two meters above the waterline on the port side stern in the ballast tank area. The quay itself sustained only minor damage during the incident. Despite the mishap, the 'Europalink' was unloaded but was subsequently detained until necessary repairs could be effected. As a result, the scheduled departure to Malmö at 10:00 a.m. was canceled, with alternative services provided by the ferries 'Finnartner' and 'Finntrader' on the Travemünde-Malmö route. Repairs took place at the quay, and the marine police of Travemünde initiated an investigation, which concluded that the master of the 'Europalink' had underestimated the vessel's speed, preventing timely stopping. The ferry resumed its journey on January 9, departing at 9:15 p.m. and successfully reached Malmö on January 10 at 4:50 a.m.

The M/V Europalink has successfully completed extensive repairs following the grounding incident in Peristeres that occurred on September 21, 2014. After a significant refurbishment, the vessel departed from the Altinova shipyard at 5:30 PM on September 20. The ship is currently en route to Yalova, with an estimated time of arrival on September 21. Upon reaching the area, the Europalink dropped anchor in position N 40° 41.54' E 029° 20.19' during the morning hours.

In a remarkable advancement towards recovery, the reconditioned gearbox of the 'Europalink' has been successfully installed at the Besiktas Shipyard in Altinova. This installation took place at the end of June through a strategically cut opening in the engine room, as part of extensive refurbishment efforts following grounding damage sustained by the vessel. These crucial repairs are on track for completion by September, ensuring the ship's return to operational status.
