Barge Everlast Runs Aground Near Tracy, Quebec
On August 9, 2018, at approximately 01:40 AM, the tank barge "Norman Mcleod" (IMO 6809 gt, launched in 2002), which was anchored alongside the "Everlast," faced a critical incident when its anchor malfunctioned. The vessel was positioned at 46°00.716' N and 73°10.15' E near Tracy, Quebec, when it began to drift uncontrollably and eventually ran aground. Despite the harrowing situation, the grounding did not result in any harm to the barge itself. Unfortunately, both the anchor and chain were lost to the depths and have yet to be recovered. Fortunately, thanks to the efforts of nearby tugs, the barge was successfully refloated. Thankfully, there were no reports of pollution resulting from this incident.
