Evia Star Ferry Cancels Sailings Amid Rafina Fire Emergency
On July 3, 2025, around noon, the Port Authority of Karystos was alerted by the Greek Coastal Administration regarding an urgent situation in the Municipality of Rafina-Pikermi. Due to a significant fire outbreak, the Unified Coordination Center for Operations and Crisis Management issued a directive preventing the 'Evia Star' ferry from making its scheduled departure for Rafina. This ferry, which was en route on the Marmari-Rafina line, had 125 passengers and 17 crew members onboard at the time. Consequently, the vessel was redirected back to Marmari, leading to the cancellation of all remaining sailing operations for the day.
