Mystery Surrounds the Disappearance of Superyacht 'Falco Lair'

Jun 30, 2025 11:26

The fate of the 'Falco Lair', a luxurious superyacht once owned by the late Prince de Lignac and millionaire Bram van Leeuwen, remains a captivating enigma. Owned by entrepreneur Michael Rogerson, the vessel vanished from tracking systems after he fell into conflict with the American tax authorities. The pivotal moment came when Rogerson turned off the yacht's AIS, leaving its current location unknown since March 2023. Rogerson's legal troubles stem from allegations that he attempted to minimize his tax burden by declaring financial losses from both 'Falco Lair' and his sailing yacht 'Toto' as charter ships. The aim was to offset these losses against profits generated by his aviation firm, Rogerson Aircraft Corporation, consequently reducing his tax obligations by millions. However, tax authorities challenged this assertion, determining in 2022 that the superyacht was for private use only. At that time, 'Falco Lair' was docked in West Palm Beach, Florida, but since the AIS shutdown, there have been no sightings or reports concerning its whereabouts. Adding to the intrigue, the superyacht is currently unavailable for charter and not on the market for sale, further deepening the mystery of this high-value vessel's disappearance.
