On August 8, 2018, the guard ship 'Faxaborg', operated by Van Laar shipyard from IJmuiden, experienced significant engine malfunctions while positioned offshore of Lauwersoog. The incident prompted a swift response from local fishing vessels, including the Jelle Bos and the fishing trawler 'Hunsingo - ZK 8', which courageously assisted in towing the stricken ship back to safety. Eventually, the 'Faxaborg' was successfully brought into the port of Lauwersoog for essential repairs, arriving at approximately 1:45 PM.
