The newly launched vessel Federal Bering has made its inaugural visit to the Port of Antwerp, where it is set to load an impressive cargo of 20,000 tonnes of steel destined for industry giants ArcelorMittal, ThyssenKrupp, and other steel manufacturers. This three-day stop not only focuses on steel but also includes the transportation of project cargo such as dryers and transformers. Measuring 200 meters in length and boasting a deadweight tonnage (DWT) of 34,100, the Federal Bering symbolizes the pinnacle of modern carrier design for Canadian shipping company Fednav. The ship is primarily slated for operations within the Great Lakes, a region where Fednav holds a dominant market position. Notably, Fednav has committed to a total of 16 vessels of this advanced design, the largest of their kind, with all vessels expected to be operational by 2018.
