Heroic Rescue: Crewman Survives Fall Overboard Near Gedser
On the morning of October 16, 2018, an intense search and rescue operation was launched in the Baltic Sea after a 53-year-old crew member fell overboard from the 'Finntrader' vessel, navigating south of Gedser. Lifeboats from Denmark, Sweden, and Germany were promptly deployed, including the lifeboats 'Theo Fischer' and 'Arkona,' as well as the patrol boat 'Diana' and several Home Guard units such as 'Enø,' 'Kureren,' and 'Havørnen.' In addition, helicopters joined the mission to locate the missing man. The crew member had last been seen the previous evening and was reported missing when he failed to check in at 6 a.m. By 11:50 a.m., a search and rescue helicopter from Roskilde successfully located the man, hoisting him to safety. He was subsequently airlifted to Rigshospital for urgent medical treatment. Upon arrival, he was found to be in critical condition due to hypothermia, leading to his placement in an artificial coma for recovery. The 'Finntrader' was operating its regular service route between Travemünde, where it had departed at 2 a.m., and Malmö at the time of the incident.

Finntrader Ferry Voyages Disrupted by Technical Issues
On March 17, 2015, the ferry 'Finntrader' faced unforeseen technical difficulties, resulting in the cancellation of its scheduled sailing from Malmö to Lübeck-Travemünde, originally set for 10 p.m. As a precautionary measure, the vessel is now en route to a repair yard located in Landskrona, with the docking scheduled for March 19. Consequently, affected passengers will also find that the departures from Malmö on March 17 at 10 p.m. and from Travemünde on March 19 at 10 a.m. have been canceled.
