On November 24, 2024, at 10:22 PM, the supply ship 'Forties Sentinel' collided with one of the legs of the Valaris 120 rig, approximately 150 miles east of Aberdeen. At the time of the incident, the rig was accommodating 128 personnel, of which 52 non-essential workers were evacuated to Aberdeen via helicopter in a coordinated effort that required three separate flights. Incident response teams have been promptly deployed and are working closely with relevant authorities to address the situation. The Valaris 120, a robust harsh environment jackup rig, was constructed in 2013 as part of the former Ensco fleet. It boasts a maximum drilling capability of 40,000 feet and can operate in water depths of up to 470 feet. During the allision, the jackup was raised near Harbour Energy's Judy platform, which is a small manned production installation yielding roughly 34,000 barrels of oil equivalent per day. Fortunately, there has been no impact on production as a result of this incident.
