Working Conditions Aboard the Fri-Brevik

In the early hours of June 29, 2016, at approximately 3:35 a.m., the vessel 'Fri Brevik' experienced an allision with the lock at Brunsbüttel while navigating from Chatham to Kalmar. The tanker was instructed to dock at the middle wall of the new southern lock. However, a scaffolding set up for ongoing construction work intruded into the lock chamber, creating an unforeseen obstacle. As 'Fri Brevik' attempted to maneuver alongside the scaffolding to secure its port side, a sudden gust of wind caused the vessel's stern to collide with the structure. The extent of the damage to both the ship and the scaffolding remains undetermined. Following a thorough investigation into the incident, 'Fri Brevik' was permitted to resume its journey at around 5 a.m., with an estimated time of arrival in Kalmar set for noon on June 30.
