The impact resulted in a 30 x 30 centimetre gash on the port side of the 'Frisia E 1', just above the waterline. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and there was no environmental impact from the collision. Investigations into the incident were promptly initiated by the Water Police in Emden. The damaged ferry remained out of service following the accident, while repairs were carried out at the port. By the morning of April 16, the German Transport Accident Insurance Association's department in charge of maritime safety cleared the vessel for operation. The 'Frisia E 1' successfully resumed service by 12:30 p.m. Minor damage was also noted on the 'Frisia II' as a result of the collision.
