Oman Set to Launch FSO Asia for Crude Oil Storage This Year
April 28 (Reuters) – The Oman Tank Terminal Company (OTTCO) is gearing up to operate a new floating storage unit named FSO Asia, aimed at facilitating the trade of crude oil futures on the Dubai Mercantile Exchange (DME). Industry insiders revealed on Tuesday that this floating storage initiative is expected to enhance monthly trading volumes on the DME by an impressive 2 million barrels and contribute to reducing price fluctuations in the market. Majority-owned by the Oman Oil Company (OOC), OTTCO will open a tender process for leasing storage space aboard a Very Large Crude Carrier, making it available to four participating companies for a duration of one year. Each entity will have the capacity to store one cargo, equivalent to 500,000 barrels, allowing for greater flexibility and stability in crude oil trading.
