Working Conditions Aboard the Future-Id

On February 18, 2020, the Libyan National Army (LNA) led by General Khalifa Haftar launched an attack on the port of Tripoli. Reports and visuals emerging from the scene revealed that only one-third of the warehouses at the port were affected by the assault. Thick clouds of black smoke could be seen rising from the area, signaling the impact of the rockets. Notably, the freighter 'Ayla' was struck while being unloaded but remarkably sustained minimal damage. Additionally, three other cargo vessels registered under the flags of Cook Islands, Curacao, and Palau were unharmed during the incident. A Turkish tugboat, named 'Balaban,' was also present but reported no damage. In response to the attack, officials evacuated the nearby offices of the National Oil Corporation (NOC) and the Eni consortium, and there was an immediate order for ships to vacate the port area. A devastating accident unfolded in the Port of Antwerp on the evening of January 28, 2012, where two workers lost their lives aboard the cargo ship "Laura 1" at the America Dock. The vessel was carrying a load of clay when an attempt to lift a bulldozer into its cargo hold was met with tragedy.
