Ferry Transition: 'Gala' Takes on New Identity
The ferry previously known as 'Galaxy,' now rebranded as 'Gala,' has undergone a significant transformation following its acquisition by Sea Connection Maritime, a company based in the Marshall Islands. The change of ownership occurred at the end of April 2026, alongside a pivotal reflagging from the Cyprus registry to the flag of Togo. Originally delivered as 'Silesia' by the Polish shipyard Stocznia Szczecinska, the vessel has been a part of A-Ships Management's fleet since 2016. During its tenure as 'Galaxy,' the ferry has seen various operational charters, most recently with Faroese operator Strandfaraskip Landsins in 2025, marking their second time leasing the vessel. Over the years, it has also worked with other operators, including Caronte & Tourist and Inter Shipping. Following its recent activities, the ferry was docked in Perama from April 22 to May 6, before embarking on new voyages. As of May 18, the ship was anchored at position 31° 23' N 032° 19' E.
