Investigation Underway Following Crew Member's Tragic Death on 'Inge Kosan'
The Vanuatu police force, alongside port authorities, has detained the 'Inge Kosan' at Port Vila as investigations continue concerning the unfortunate death of a crew member. The incident occurred on April 14, 2021, when the lifeless body of a Filipino national was discovered at Pango beach, situated approximately ten minutes from Port Vila's central wharf, on April 11. The vessel, which had recently docked in Vila and was scheduled to set sail for the Solomon Islands, was in the process of departing Port Vila when it was noted that one crew member was missing. In response, Vanuatu Port Authorities guided the vessel back to the harbor, initiating a search and rescue operation. Authorities later confirmed the recovery of a body at Pango beach. As a result, the ship's departure has been halted pending the investigation's findings.
