On July 29, 2026, at 2:20 p.m. local time, two gas tankers were struck by drones at the bustling Damietta Port in Egypt. The U.S.-owned gas storage tanker 'Energos Winter' (IMO: 9256614) was hit by an unidentified projectile on its starboard side, igniting fires aboard both the regasification ship and another tanker, the 'Gaslog Salem,' which was moored alongside. Fortunately, all crew members aboard the 'Energos Winter' have been reported safe. Quick action was taken to evacuate non-essential personnel while local fire services responded to extinguish the flames. Prior to control being regained, the 'Energos Winter' was anchored at coordinates 31° 31' N, 031° 47' E, and the 'Gaslog Salem' was impacted near its No. 2 forward cargo tanks, where crew members managed to put out a small fire and a minor leak was reported. The 'Gaslog Salem' was anchored off in position 31° 42' N, 031° 38' E, and its crew also remained unharmed. The Houthi group from Yemen has denied any responsibility for the drone attack, stating that their operations are exclusively focused on Saudi Arabia.
