GasLog Secures Significant Ten-Year FSU Charter in Panama

Sep 09, 2019 09:04

Monaco-based GasLog has successfully entered into a long-term agreement, securing a ten-year time charter with Sinolam LNG Terminal. This strategic partnership involves the utilization of a floating storage unit (FSU) that will facilitate the reception, storage, and distribution of liquefied natural gas (LNG) to support a new gas-fired power initiative in Panama. GasLog is set to transform its 155,000 cubic meter LNG carrier, GasLog Singapore, into an FSU-capable vessel. Notably, the conversion will not preclude the ship from functioning as a conventional LNG carrier, ensuring operational flexibility. The conversion process is scheduled to coincide with the vessel’s routine dry-docking in the third quarter of 2020. The charter is anticipated to kick off in November 2020, marking a significant milestone for both GasLog and the burgeoning LNG sector in Panama.

Historic First Cargo Arrival at Pascagoula’s New LNG Terminal

Jun 10, 2011 07:33

The newly constructed liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal operated by El Paso in Pascagoula is set to make history as it prepares to receive its inaugural cargo on June 13, according to reports from Reuters. Arriving at the terminal is the Gaslog Singapore tanker, with a substantial capacity of 155,000 cubic meters of LNG. The vessel has anchored near the state-of-the-art Gulf LNG terminal on Wednesday and is scheduled to dock and begin offloading operations next week. Anticipated to officially berth on Monday, June 13, this marks a significant milestone for the terminal. With a construction cost of $1.1 billion, the Gulf LNG terminal boasts an impressive processing capacity of up to 1.3 billion cubic feet (bcf) of LNG daily, supported by two on-site storage tanks that can accommodate a total of 6.6 bcf. This facility is coming online at a pivotal time, as U.S. natural gas production reaches unprecedented levels, reducing the necessity for imports and leaving numerous newer terminals in the U.S. Gulf region underutilized.
