The Genco-Defender: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

A new charter has been finalized for the transportation of 170,000 tons of ore, scheduled to sail from Dampier to Qingdao between November 10 and November 12, 2019. This lucrative deal, set at a rate of $9.15 per ton, includes the loading of 90,000 tons on a 'shinc' basis, with an additional discharge of 30,000 tons also under 'shinc' terms. The shipment is being executed for the esteemed client, Rio Tinto, marking another significant undertaking in maritime logistics.

Genco Shipping & Trading Limited has officially announced the successful acquisition of several high-specification vessels, marking a significant expansion of its fleet. In September 2018, Genco took delivery of the Genco Defender and Genco Liberty, both Capesize vessels built in 2016, each with a deadweight tonnage (dwt) of 180,000. Additionally, the company received the Genco Columbia, a 60,000 dwt Ultramax vessel, also constructed in 2016. These new acquisitions finalize Genco's strategic initiative to bolster its fleet, following announcements made earlier in the year regarding vessel acquisitions during the second and third quarters of 2018. The Genco Defender and Genco Liberty were part of a deal agreed upon in July 2018, while the Genco Columbia represents the final addition from a series of four vessels announced for purchase in June 2018.

In a significant move within the maritime industry, Greek-based Golden Union Shipping has finalized the sale of two of its Capesize bulk carriers, the 'Malena' and 'Cic Trias,' both built in 2016 by Hanjin. The vessels were acquired by clients of Genco Shipping for an impressive price of USD 49.0 million each. This transaction not only marks a pivotal moment for Golden Union Shipping but also highlights the ongoing demand for Capesize vessels in the global shipping market.
