On the evening of March 11, 2022, the tanker 'Atoll' encountered a significant issue, experiencing a rudder failure while navigating under the iconic '15 Temmuz Şehitler Köprüsü' bridge in the Bosphorus Strait. The vessel was on a journey from Aliaga to Türkeli when the incident occurred. In response, the Turkish Coastal Safety authority swiftly deployed multiple tugs – 'Kurtarma 6', 'Kurtarma 7', and 'Kurtarma 11' – alongside the lifeboat 'KEGM 3' to lend support. The 'Atoll' was safely anchored at Kuruçeşme in Ahırkapı under the guidance of the Istanbul Ship Traffic Services Center, with assistance from the pilot boat 'Nene Hatun'.
