Geo-Caspian Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On the afternoon of September 10, 2011, at approximately 4:40 p.m., the crew aboard the vessel 'Geo Caspian' sought assistance from the Radio Medical Service after a member of their team experienced a severe health issue. The ship, navigating approximately 180 km north of Vlieland and returning from Amsterdam, required a prompt medical evacuation which was coordinated by the KNRM (Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution). A Search and Rescue (SAR) helicopter was dispatched to the site, where medical personnel were lowered onto the ship to assess and prepare the patient for evacuation. Due to the total flight duration and the considerable distance from the nearest land, the SAR helicopter made a strategic landing at an offshore platform for refueling. Once the helicopter was refueled, the medical team, accompanied by the ailing crew member, was safely retrieved from the 'Geo Caspian.' Following the successful operation, the patient was flown back to the Naval Air Station De Kooy, located near Den Helder, where they were swiftly transferred to a waiting ambulance for further medical care. This incident highlights the crucial role of maritime rescue operations in ensuring the safety and well-being of seafarers in distress.
