Celebration of the RV Geo Resolution's Blessing in Singapore
In a momentous event for the maritime community, EGS management convened in Singapore to celebrate the christening and blessing of the RV Geo Resolution, the newest member of its fleet specializing in deep water hydrographic and geophysical surveys. The ceremony unfolded at Sembawang Shipyard, where the vessel has been outfitted for its upcoming survey missions. EGS acquired the RV Geo Resolution, a 68-meter-long ship previously known as HMNZS Resolution, from the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) back in October 2014. This vessel played a pivotal role as RNZN's primary hydrographic survey ship, undertaking vital surveying and charting operations for the New Zealand Navy. Originally constructed in Mississippi for the US Navy and named the USNS Tenacious, the RV Geo Resolution was the 17th ship in a series of 18 Stalwart-Class surveillance vessels. It was officially transferred to EGS on October 10, 2014, and departed from Devonport Naval Base on the same day, embarking on its journey to Singapore.
