Technical Glitch Halts 'Giskøy' Ferry on Sulesund-Hareid Route
On the afternoon of February 27, 2020, at precisely 3:10 PM, the ferry 'Giskøy' experienced a technical issue that led to its withdrawal from the Sulesund-Hareid service. The problem arose when one of the ramps failed to open, forcing the vessel to turn back and passengers to reverse their vehicles in Sulesund. Fortunately, Fjord1 had a contingency plan in place and did not have to deploy the spare ferry stationed in Hjørungavåg, as the issue was resolved later that day. Meanwhile, the ferry operations continued smoothly with the assistance of the other ferries, 'Hadarøy' and 'Suløy,' ensuring that travelers were not left stranded.

Fortunately, all 36 passengers onboard and their vehicles were safely disembarked at a secondary dock, and no injuries were reported.
