Working Conditions Aboard the Glovis-Sirius

On October 31, 2018, at 10:45 a.m., the vehicle carrier "Glovis Sirius" encountered an allision with the Northern lock while departing from the Bremerhaven overseas port. Despite the support of three tugboats, the vessel impacted the eastern side of the lock, resulting in minor damage to the structure. The allision caused a breach in the hull of the ship, measuring 4-5 meters above the waterline at the starboard side stern, specifically in the section housing a freshwater tank for fire extinguishing foam. Fortunately, the integrity of the ship was not compromised, as a secondary tank remained operational for safety purposes. However, the vessel was kept under detention until necessary repairs could be completed. As of November 1, 2018, the "Glovis Sirius" was still docked at the North Port awaiting repairs.
