US Coast Guard Concludes Search for Missing Crew Member from Golden Jake
The U.S. Coast Guard has officially called off the search for a missing crew member from the cargo vessel 'Golden Jake', which was anchored just north of Blake Island State Park. The search operations began on the evening of February 15, 2018, after the ship's captain alerted authorities that the chief mate had not reported for the evening muster at 6 p.m. The last confirmed sighting of the missing individual was during the morning muster at 10:30 a.m., during which he was seen wearing red overalls. A thorough search of the vessel by the crew yielded no clues as to his whereabouts. Over the course of the night and into the following morning, the Coast Guard conducted an extensive search operation involving 25 searches, utilizing resources from Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles, Coast Guard Station Seattle, and the Coast Guard Cutter Wahoo. Despite their efforts, the search for the Philippine native concluded without any results. The Golden Jake had been anchored for two days prior to the crew member's disappearance, waiting to be offloaded in Seattle. Investigations are ongoing in collaboration with Sector Puget Sound and Customs and Border Protection officers.
