On August 28, 2022, the Mykonos Port Authority received an urgent notification from the captain of the cruise ship 'Grande Amore,' concerning the serious injury sustained by the vessel's 2nd engineer due to an electric shock incident. Immediate medical attention was provided, and the injured crew member was rushed to the Mykonos Health Center. After examination, medical personnel diagnosed him with Rhabdomyolysis, a serious condition often linked to muscle injury and breakdown. Subsequently, for comprehensive medical evaluation and treatment, he was transferred to Asclipio Hospital in Voula. The Mykonos Port Authority promptly initiated a preliminary investigation to review the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident, ensuring thorough scrutiny for the safety of maritime operations.
