On January 12, 2020, a significant maritime incident unfolded as the Libyan military intervened to redirect the Grimaldi Lines vessel 'Grande Baltimore' from its intended route to Misrata port. The diversion came in response to directives from their central command, which imposed a docking ban on any ships attempting to enter the Misrata and Khoms ports, currently under the control of Tripoli militia forces. Upon reaching the docks in Benghazi, the Grande Baltimore underwent a comprehensive search for potential weapons shipments. Additionally, the vessel’s crew was subjected to interrogation as authorities launched an investigation. Thankfully, following the scrutiny, the vessel was released on January 13 and resumed its journey, aiming to reach Izmit by January 15.
