On October 16, 2018, the bulk carrier 'Grumant', which was fully loaded and traveling from Murmansk to Sabetta, suffered an engine failure, leading to a disabled status and drifting in the Barents Sea. The vessel had been non-operational (NUC) since October 13. During this period, the crew did not request external assistance and was actively attempting to resolve the issue and restart the engine. By 2:30 a.m. on October 17, the 'Grumant' managed to anchor at coordinates 69°35.4'N, 054°23.6'E. To provide support, the Russian tug and icebreaker 'Aleut' is currently en route to the scene of the incident.

On the morning of September 24, 2017, at 9:30 a.m., the water police in Brunsbüttel conducted a routine inspection of the bulk carrier 'Grumant' while it was moored in the Kiel Canal lock. During this inspection, authorities discovered that the vessel's master was under the influence of alcohol, with a breathalyzer test registering a level of 0.5 per thousand. Following this finding, the master was subjected to investigations and was required to pay a safety deposit of 800 Euros. The 'Grumant,' which was making its way from Terneuzen to Gdansk, had a history of deficiencies noted in previous inspections. Due to the serious nature of the situation, the bulk carrier was temporarily detained in the inner port of Brunsbüttel for a Port State Control inspection. To ensure safe handling, two tugs were dispatched to assist in maneuvering the vessel out of the lock, as an interim command was taken over by the 1st mate. The ship was successfully berthed in the canal port later that morning. Following the lifting of the sailing ban on September 30 at 7:30 p.m., the bulk carrier resumed its journey, once again bound for Gdansk, with an estimated time of arrival set for October 2.

On October 26, 2012, at 3 p.m., the KNRM station Neeltje Jans received an urgent request for medical evacuation from the bulk carrier 'Grumant', which was anchored off Steenbanken, approximately 15 miles off the coast of Flushing. The vessel had set sail from Terneuzen on October 19 and was waiting for orders. A swift operation ensued, leading to the successful transfer of the patient from the Grumant to a lifeboat within a short period.
