Gulen Ferry Grounds at Mannheller, Sustains Damage and Injuries
On December 30, 2015, at approximately 8:30 PM, the ferry 'Gulen' encountered a serious incident when it ran aground at Mannheller ferry port in Sogndal. During the grounding, the vessel sustained damage to either its propeller or rudder. At the time of the grounding, there were ten passengers and a crew of six aboard. Unfortunately, one crew member sustained head injuries due to the incident and required medical attention. Following the accident, ferry operations on the Mannheller-Fodnes route were reduced to half capacity on December 31 as recovery efforts began.
Incident at Lote: Ferry Gulen Grounds, Service Suspended
On the evening of April 2, 2014, at approximately 8 p.m., the ferry 'Gulen' ran aground near Lote, resulting in significant bow damage to the vessel. This mishap prompted an immediate suspension of the ferry service between Anda and Lote. Following the incident, the 'Gulen' encountered additional technical issues, necessitating a halt for repairs and maintenance. The duration of the ferry's downtime remains uncertain, leading Fjord1 to initiate the search for a substitute vessel to maintain the route. Meanwhile, local authorities, including the Eid police, have commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the grounding. In response to the service disruption, the 'Sunnfjord' was dispatched from Måløy to serve as a temporary replacement ferry, slated to commence operations starting the morning of April 3.
Ferry Incident at Hella: 'Gulen' Collides with Dock
In a maritime incident that occurred around midday on February 14, 2014, the ferry 'Gulen' suffered a collision with the ferry dock at Hella. Thankfully, all 17 passengers on board emerged unscathed, and there was no reported damage to the 13 vehicles present at the time of the allision. Following the accident, ferry operator attempted to deploy the 'Sognefjord' as an immediate replacement service in the afternoon hours. However, the 'Gulen' did sustain some damages, including a compromised ramp and a 15-centimeter breach in the hull.
