On July 27, 2018, at 12:22 p.m., the cargo vessel 'Elbetor' encountered mechanical difficulties while navigating the northeast lane of the English Channel traffic separation scheme, located at position 50° 12' 17.4" N, 000° 12' 03.6" E. The ship, which was transporting 2750 tons of rapeseed and had a crew of seven aboard, experienced a fuel injection pump failure during its journey from Portland, UK, to Erith. Following the incident, the 'Elbetor' was anchored in French waters where emergency repairs were promptly executed. The situation was reported to the Dover Coastguard by the CROSS Gris Nez. After the necessary repairs were finalized, the vessel successfully resumed its voyage at 3:15 p.m. on the same day, ultimately reaching Foulness Anchorage at position 51° 30.36' N, 000° 57.49' E on July 28.

The maritime scene near Great Yarmouth saw the arrival of the damaged vessel 'Elbetor' on January 14 at 9:45 a.m. Prior to its docking, the ship had anchored just east of Bacton until the early hours of the morning, leaving for Yarmouth around 3 a.m. In response to safety concerns, a team of 12 firefighters, including six from Humberside and another six from Caernarfon, North Wales, collaborated with a fire liaison officer to conduct thorough checks for any remaining hotspots and to cool down the vessel. The lifeboat crew, having facilitated this operation, returned to Cromer with the firefighters at around 4 p.m. on January 13. A fire broke out in the accommodation section of the cargo ship Elbetor, located six miles off the coast of Norfolk. The vessel, which was en route to Rotterdam carrying a cargo of wheat, prompted an immediate response from emergency services. Two coastguard helicopters, alongside a lifeboat from Cromer and two additional boats, rushed to assist the ship's crew. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported, and the ship has not required evacuation at this time. A specialized fire team of six from Humberside was airlifted to the Elbetor to help extinguish the smoldering hotspots within the accommodation area, which suffered significant smoke damage. Currently, there are seven crew members aboard the Elbetor, and it is anticipated that the ship will navigate to the port of Great Yarmouth under its own power for further inspections and safety assessments.
