Emergency Medical Evacuation Near Fécamp

On December 7, 2020, at 5:22 PM, the CROSS Gris-Nez received an urgent alert from the MRCC of Den Helder regarding a medical emergency involving a crew member aboard the fishing vessel 'Frank Bonefaas'. The vessel was situated approximately 15 nautical miles northwest of Fécamp when the incident occurred. In response, CROSS initiated a conference call, collaborating with the Toulouse Maritime Medical Consultation Center (CCMM) and representatives from the 'Frank Bonefaas'. Following a thorough assessment, a medical evacuation was promptly recommended. The lifeboat 'Cap Fagnet', operated by the SNSM station in Fécamp, was deployed, alongside a medical team from SMUR in Le Havre, to facilitate the medevac. At 6:44 PM, the medical team arrived on the fishing vessel, where they rapidly attended to the ailing sailor. After administering necessary medical care, the patient was transferred to the 'Cap Fagnet', which successfully navigated back to the port of Fécamp, arriving at 7:51 PM. The sailor was then transported by ambulance to Jacques Monod Hospital, where he received further medical attention starting at 8:46 PM.
