On July 15, 2023, the Ben Kien Shipbuilding Industry Company, located in Hai Phong, celebrated the successful handover of a state-of-the-art multipurpose container vessel, HC Melina, to the Hanse Capital Group of Germany. This remarkable ship, identified by the IMO code RSBK 02, marks the second unit in a series of nine 9,200-tonne vessels constructed for international partners. HC Melina spans an impressive length of 129.4 meters and a width of 17 meters, engineered to achieve a cruising speed of 14.7 nautical miles per hour. The design of the vessel was expertly crafted by the Inec Company based in the Netherlands and has undergone rigorous inspection and classification by Bureau Veritas (BV), a leading French Register of Shipping. This delivery underscores the growing capabilities of Vietnamese shipbuilding in the global maritime industry.
