Havglans Ship Details and Seafarer Feedback

On April 5, 2020, the fishing vessel 'Havglans', which had departed from Karmsund on April 3, found itself in distress when its trawl became entangled in the propeller. The incident occurred approximately three miles southwest of St. Kilda, in the waters west of the Hebrides. In response to the emergency, the HRS South Norway reached out to the British Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC), which orchestrated the rescue efforts and summoned the emergency tug 'Ievoli Black'. However, the 'Ievoli Black' was stood down when the fishing vessel 'Selvaag Senior' (IMO: 9195793) arrived on the scene to assist. The 'Selvaag Senior' successfully took the 'Havglans' in tow, guiding it safely to Broad Bay, where it was anchored at coordinates 58 15 18.0 N, 006 12 48.0 W by 7 a.m. on April 6. Following the incident, the owner of the trawler commissioned the tug 'Green Isle' to tow the vessel back to Norway. The 'Green Isle' departed from Stromness at 11:40 a.m. and is now on its way to Husoeya with the disabled trawler in tow.
