The Havva-Karabekir: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On January 16, 2021, the freighter 'Amatrice' played a crucial role in rescuing four young men in distress after their sailing yacht faced multiple failures 30 nautical miles west of the Gulf of Oristano. The crew, all 24 years old, experienced severe challenges including water ingress, engine malfunction, and rudder failure amidst turbulent seas. Fortunately, the Italian Coast Guard was alerted and dispatched a patrol boat to the scene. Simultaneously, the 'Amatrice,' en route from Djen Djen to Oristano, changed its course to assist. By approximately 11 a.m., the diligent crew of the 'Amatrice' located the compromised yacht and promptly relayed its coordinates to the Coast Guard vessel, which arrived shortly afterward to execute the rescue. Tragically, the yacht did not survive the ordeal and sank soon after the crew was safely evacuated.
