On October 13, 2019, the bulk carrier 'HB Tucunaré' found itself grounded on a sandbar in the northern reaches of the Amazon River. The vessel was on its way from Porto Trombetas to the port of Vila do Conde, carrying a hefty load of 74,000 tons of bauxite, and operating with a draft of 11.58 meters.
