Henry Larsen Aids Stranded Fishing Vessel in Distress
On April 19, 2011, the 'Henry Larsen' embarked on a critical mission to the St. Anthony area to assist a distressed fishing vessel. The 50-foot fishing boat, named 'Ocean Quell,' had issued an urgent distress signal around midday, approximately 42 nautical miles east of St. Anthony, indicating it was taking on water. In response to the situation, the 'Henry Larsen' alongside a Cormorant helicopter were dispatched to the scene. Rescue teams provided pumps to extract water from the compromised boat, but the attempt to dewater proved futile. Ultimately, the situation escalated, forcing the five crew members of 'Ocean Quell' to abandon ship and transfer to the 'Henry Larsen,' which safely transported them back to St. Anthony.
