Following an evaluation of the situation, the ship's master was compelled to remit a security deposit of 228 Euros and an additional 528 Euros. Furthermore, the inspection revealed an unauthorized connection from the sludge tank directly to the sea, alongside irregularities in the vessel’s pumping operations and oil log management. These violations were in breach of the International Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment (MARPOL 73/78, Appendix I), resulting in a cumulative fine of approximately 2600 Euros levied against the chief engineer.
