Brisbane Port Welcomes First Shipment of Goldlinq Trams from Germany
On September 10, the Port of Brisbane became the receiving hub for two brand-new Goldlinq trams, each measuring an impressive 42 meters in length. These trams mark the arrival of the first batch of 14 scheduled to make their way from Germany, much to the anticipation of Gold Coast residents. The trams were carefully unloaded from the vessel and transferred onto two specially designed 20-axle trucks, readying them for their journey to their new home on the Gold Coast. Phil Mumford, CEO of GoldlinQ, expressed his enthusiasm about seeing the trams operational on local tracks and shared his hope that the community would feel the same excitement. Meanwhile, an additional six trams are en route to Australia, with one vessel recently departing Germany carrying three more units. Kiel Canal Lock Incident Involving Palabora
On December 10, 2011, at approximately 1 p.m., the cargo vessel 'Palabora,' making its way from New Orleans to Hamburg, encountered an engine failure which resulted in an allision with the central wall of the North Lock at the Kiel Canal in Kiel-Holtenau. This unfortunate incident led to the removal of a tin covering from the quay, which subsequently fell into the water. As a consequence, the lock was temporarily closed to shipping traffic for one hour. Following a thorough investigation, the 'Palabora' was cleared to continue its journey and departed, eventually docking at Warehouse 62/63 in Hamburg at 8:45 a.m. on December 11.
