In a groundbreaking event for maritime logistics, the Port of Port Hedland has witnessed the departure of the largest iron ore shipment to date. The HL TUBARAO, a vessel chartered by Fortescue Metals Group, set off on the morning of March 1, 2017, carrying an astonishing 270,006 tonnes of iron ore. This landmark shipment achieved a record sailing draft of 19.95 metres, effectively surpassing earlier records. Previously, the largest shipment was recorded at 264,858 tonnes by the vessel CSB Years in April 2015, while the maximum sailing draft was held by the Abigail N at 19.67 metres in February 2015. This impressive achievement marks a significant milestone in the shipping and mining industry.
