On January 18, 2018, the vehicles carrier Hoegh Beijing encountered a perilous situation after breaking free and drifting in the Vrasene dock at the Port of Antwerp at 7:45 a.m. Despite having four tugs initially tethered to it, the vessel was left adrift until it was successfully moored at Berth 1237 by 1:50 p.m., with two tugs remaining on standby for assistance. The Hoegh Beijing had arrived at the bustling port from Halifax earlier that day at 1:30 a.m. This incident highlights the challenges faced by maritime operations during inclement weather conditions.
