The Hoegh-Trooper: Crew Feedback and Vessel Data

On March 1, 2018, the Hoegh Trooper encountered significant engine issues while anchored approximately 24 nautical miles off Terschelling, at coordinates 53° 44' 09" N, 4° 56' 20.4" E. The vessel was en route from Bremerhaven to Zeebrugge when it reported engine troubles at 06:15 AM, positioning itself at 53° 41' 30" N, 5° 51' 00" E. After several hours of attempted repairs, the crew decided to seek towing assistance at 7:50 PM. The Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) Den Helder recommended that the shipping company arrange for a towing contract. The Hoegh Trooper's ultimate destination is set to be Emden. Remarkably, by the morning of March 3, the ship appeared to be moving under its own power, accompanied by the SAR tug Guardian (IMO: 9637363), as it headed north of Den Helder.
