Coast Guard Rushes to Aid Injured Crewmember off Lake Worth Inlet
On April 1, 2018, the US Coast Guard successfully conducted a medevac operation for a 27-year-old man aboard the Hoegh Trotter, situated approximately 14 miles off the coast of Lake Worth Inlet. The incident unfolded when watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector Miami received an urgent communication via VHF-FM marine-band radio channel 16 at 11:15 a.m., alerting them to a crewmember who was exhibiting concussion-like symptoms. In swift response, a team from Coast Guard Station Lake Worth Inlet deployed a 45-foot Response Boat-Medium to the scene. Upon arrival, the crew promptly transported the injured man back to the station where emergency medical services were on standby. The patient was then transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in West Palm Beach for further evaluation and treatment.
