Hoegh Trove Sailors Clear of COVID-19 After Testing Negative
The crew members aboard the 'Hoegh Trove' have received reassuring news, as all tests conducted for Coronavirus have returned negative results. This testing was initiated due to concerns regarding potential COVID-19 cases on the vessel. The 'Hoegh Trove' embarked from Madagascar on June 28, having made a brief stop in Durban on June 22 and 23, and has been moored at Port Réunion for the past week. The negative test results provide a sense of relief for the crew and underscore the ongoing health measures being implemented in response to the pandemic.
COVID-19 Testing Initiated for Crew of Hoegh Trove Following Positive Case in Durban
In a recent incident that highlights ongoing concerns regarding COVID-19 in maritime operations, the crew of the Hoegh Trove underwent screening after a dock worker tested positive for the virus. The vessel docked at Port Réunion on June 30, 2020, carrying a shipment of new vehicles. The worker had boarded the ship during its last port of call in Durban. Upon learning of the positive case, authorities took immediate action to block the vessel from further operations at the port. Fortunately, none of the crew members displayed any symptoms associated with COVID-19, which led the ARS to initially authorize the ship's arrival. However, once docked, local authorities were alerted to the situation and decided it was prudent to test all crew members and suspend cargo handling until the results were obtained. As of now, the test results are still pending.
