In a significant moment for maritime transport, Horizon Ferries has taken possession of three state-of-the-art Flex Ferries, each measuring 38 meters, after successful sea trials in Singapore. These innovative vessels, skillfully constructed by Penguin Shipyard International, are the result of expert design by BMT Nigel Gee, a prominent consultancy or subsidiary of BMT Group Ltd, headquartered in Southampton. The trio, identified as ‘Horizon 7’, ‘Horizon 8’, and ‘Horizon 9’, are unique additions to the fleet, being amongst the few high-speed monohull ferries engineered to meet the stringent '2000 HSC Code' regulations in recent years. All three are classified under BV and operate under the Singapore flag. These Flex Ferries have commenced operations on a highly competitive ferry route between Singapore and Batam, Indonesia, promising to enhance connectivity in Southeast Asia. With a length of 38.5 meters and a width of 8.7 meters, each vessel boasts a capacity for 238 passengers. Onboard accommodations include an inviting main deck that seats 208 passengers, plus a luxurious VIP saloon on the upper deck designed for 30 passengers, all complemented by ample luggage storage across both decks. Additionally, the vessels feature a well-designed wheelhouse, providing excellent all-around visibility, as well as a dedicated crew rest area equipped with comfortable amenities, ensuring a smooth operation and experience for both passengers and crew alike.
