Working Conditions Aboard the Horizon-Dragon

On March 9, 2016, Island Offshore confirmed that it will temporarily lay up two of its vessels, the 'Island Dragon' and the 'Island Duchess'. The 'Island Dragon', which had been in service with Lundin Norway since the summer of 2014, has been replaced by the 'Island Commander' due to Lundin's requirement for a vessel with a more expansive deck area. Following this change, 'Island Dragon' docked in Stavanger on the same day. Meanwhile, 'Island Duchess' has a time charter in Las Palmas aiding operations off the coast of Africa, but due to a shortage of work, Island Offshore has opted to lay up this vessel in Ulsteinvik. This strategic decision reflects the current shifts in the offshore industry and the ongoing adjustments required by maritime companies.

Island Offshore has celebrated the delivery of its latest Platform Supply Vessel, the Island Dragon, today. This marks the fourth vessel received by the company within a year from the Vard Brevik shipyard, as highlighted in their recent press announcement. The Island Dragon is a state-of-the-art UT 717 CD vessel designed by Rolls-Royce, featuring advanced firefighting capabilities and standby rescue systems. Measuring an impressive 84.65 metres in length and 17 metres in breadth, it offers a spacious deck area of 800 square meters. Additionally, the vessel has secured a contract with Lundin Norway for operations in the Edvard Grieg field, where it will manage a total of 12 wells starting this autumn.
